Ms. Sum Buntha’s History

I, Sum Buntha, was born in October 3, 1987 at Prey Tatouch village, Beung Kyang commune, Kandal Stung district, Kandal province. My present address is in the same place. I have two siblings. My sister married and has two children. Now, she is a farmer.

I graduated from Prey Tatouch childcare center (PT) in 1995 and from public high school in 2009. I wanted to continue my study at university but my mother is widow and had no job so she could not support my study. Luckily, CYK provided me the scholarship so I could continue my study at Pre-school Teacher Training Center (PTTC) for two years, from December 2009 to July 2011.

During studying at PTTC, CYK supported everything, such as food, accommodation, transportation, materials production fee, etc. In PTTC, everybody must get up at 4:00AM to cleanup around then gathering at 6:30 for singing of the national anthem. The class starts in the morning from 7:00 to 11:00 and in the afternoon from 14:00 to 17:00, from Monday to Saturday. Two meals were provided everyday, lunch from 11:20 to 12:00 and dinner from 17:20 to 18:00, then doing exercise at 19:00, and review our lesson from 20:00 to 22:00 before going to bed. Life in the PTTC was a bit hard and everything was strict with rule, but it was a good training for my life. I’m very happy to have this experience so that I could learn everything, get good experience and new idea for living in the society.

Before graduates from PTTC, I went to practice my teaching with children in 8 Mina Pre-school and 7 Makara Pre-school. At that time, I felt that I’m not a student anymore, I become adult, teacher already so I have to try all my best to educate next generation, our Cambodian lovely children who develop from day to day. I have to be good teacher and transfer what I studied to those children as they are strong pillar for our country and I hope they will become good person and can develop our country in the future. In the future, I dream to become a good pre-school principal.

In July 2011, I graduated from PTTC and get official certificate, recognized by Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and in August, I become a child minder at Prey Tatouch childcare center (PT) where I had been cared and educated. I’m very happy to have chance to work with my ex-teacher, communicate with parents, and can take care and educate children in my home town. So, I would like to say thanks again and again to CYK that provide me such of this chance.
