Tropeang Krosaing Community Library

In order to support children and the villagers of Trapeang Krasaing where CYK’s weaving training center is located, Caring for Young Khmer (CYK) supports the community library in Tropeag Krosaing Community Learning Center since 2014.

Even though the weaving project was ended at the end of June 2020, CYK still continue working with librarian to follow up children in this community library and encourage children to come to the library to gain additional knowledge and have fun with their friends in the community for better communication. We have also worked with committee members to attract more children to play different educational games and read story books as well. In the library, the librarian reads the story for children and guides them to read by themselves. Most of children like to color the picture, fold the paper and play educational games such as  Khmer consonant puzzle, car puzzle, and cloth ball and doll, etc.

SIPA team also came to educate children at TK community library on “No discrimination with all type of disable people” by using games, to teach “Khmer literature and mathematic subject”, to conduct experiment on science subject by using the modern technology and to provide books for the library. At the time they came, they also read story book for small children.

In 2020, the library was opened twice every week, on Wednesday and Sunday. From middle of March, to follow the guideline of Ministry of Health, to prevent Covid 19 pandemic, it was closed until end of April. And from May, it was reopened or small group and the librarian prepared alcohol and soap at library for children to wash their hand. However, in November, according to November 3 incident, the library was closed again from 10th to 20th November. And according to November 28 community incident, covid 19 developed into outbreak situation, the government impose the restriction on large crowd gathering. Then, the library was also closed from November 30 and will wait for further notice from the government.
